A Message Regarding The Newly Appointed Chief of Police, Anthony Facchini
Posted September 21, 2022Dear Resident,
As your Mayor, I have no greater responsibility than to keep you, your family, and all of the residents of our community safe. For this reason, I am pleased to inform you of the appointment of our new Chief of Police, Anthony Facchini.
Our new Chief intimately knows and understands Union City. Having been raised within the community, he attended St. Michaels Grammar School and went on to earn two degrees from New Jersey City University, one in criminal justice and another in finance.
Upon graduating and for nearly 25 years, Chief Facchini has worked tirelessly to keep us safe. He has served as Day Shift Patrol Supervisor in the investigative Division and in the Internal Affairs Division. In 2016, he led the Department in receiving its inaugural Accreditation Standard, meaning that our Police Department met or exceeded all national policing standards.
Chief Facchini has served in several supervisory positions, and has helped to make Union City one of the safest urban areas in the nation. The most recent federal study reported that our crime rate is 1.8 times lower than the national average for all communities, and reported crimes in almost every category have been dropping for several years.
I have known Anthony for many years and he has always shown the leadership qualities needed to supervise our fine Police Department and to keep our neighborhoods safe. He has always engaged with all members of our community, and he is known by many of you because of his frequent and visible presence throughout the City.
Chief Facchini has earned the respect of the men and women in our Department, and he has earned mine as well. I strongly believe that with Chief Facchini leading our Police Department, Union City will continue to be a community of high safety standards and where can all feel at peace in our homes and in our neighborhoods.
I ask that you please help the Chief and I keep our streets safe by contacting our Police Department directly at 201-865-1111 for police, fire, and EMS. Always remember, if you see something – say something.
Your Friend,
Mayor Brian P. Stack
