The City of Union City is announcing the release of the draft of the PY 2026 Action Plan which identifies specific projects and programs that the City intends to implement with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. These funds are received annually from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for local projects that primarily benefit low income persons. The City has been allocated $1,084,591 for the 2026 Program Year (July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027 from HUD for the programs contained in the Program Year 2026 Action Plan.

PUBLIC HEARING
In accordance with HUD guidelines, units of general local government receiving grant funds from a State, and insular area grantees, may hold virtual public hearings in lieu of in-person public hearings to fulfill public hearing requirements A hearing on the City of Union City’s proposed activities for Program Year 2026 will be held on:

The purpose of this public meeting is to furnish citizens, public agencies, and other interested parties with information concerning the amount of funds available for proposed community development and housing activities and the range of eligible activities that will be undertaken under the PY 2026 Action Plan. This will include a presentation to the public, a draft of the City of Union City’s PY 2026 Action Plan, including activities and projects that will be recommended by the City for funding in the PY 2026 Action Plan to HUD.

All public comments regarding the Annual Plan for Program Year 2026, may be submitted in writing, within thirty (30) days of the publication of this notice to the Community Development Agency, City of Union City, 3715 Palisade Avenue, Union City, New Jersey 07087.
