Union City has no hospitals within the city limits, however there are several close by. All are within approximately 3 miles, with the exception of Jersey City Medical Center which is a little further away.

- Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center, Secaucus
- Christ Hospital, Jersey City
- Jersey City Medical Center, Jersey City (trauma center, county emergency ambulance service, county medical examiner)
- Palisades Medical Center, North Bergen
We have two nursing homes, Castle Hill Nursing Home, on 23rd Street and Manhattan View Nursing Home at Hudson Avenue and Hackensack Plank Rd.
Several adult medical day care centers are located in Union City and in surrounding communities.
North Hudson Community Action Corp. Provides medical services and health screenings, including a mobile health unit, to our residents, with many services and screening free. Their main office is located 5301 Broadway, West New York, NJ 07093. Medical services for Union City residents are provided at NHCAC'S Community Health Center at 714 31st Street (telephone (973) 863-7077). NAHCAC also provides Head Start programs for pre-school children.

2023 Free Rabies Clinics

Mayor Brian P. Stack and The Board of Commissioners will be offering free rabies vaccines to Union City dogs:
- May 3, 2023 at the NJRFR Firehouse 1600 New York Avenue from 4:00 to 6:00 pm and
- May 10, 2023 at the NJRFR Firehouse 4300-4302 Kennedy Boulevard.
Vaccines will be administered by Dr. Carlos Triana from Summit Animal Clinic.
Annual Pet Licenses
- All Union City dogs must be licensed by January 31, 2023.
- Licenses can only be issued with rabies vaccination certificate.
- License fee is $12.00 if spayed/neutered or $15.00 if unaltered.
Checks or Money Order will be accepted.
All pets must be on a leash or in a carrier accompanied by an adult who must be able to place the animal on the examining table.
REMEMBER: Your pet is a family member. There is no cure for rabies, so vaccination is critical.
