Emergency Construction Repair Services

The City of Union City seeks to create a pool of qualified entities to provide construction repair services as needed for emergency repairs to alleviate dangerous conditions at private properties.  Once a list is created, the City will seek price quotes for the services as needed, and will award the contract to the vendor whose response is most advantageous, price and other factors considered.  If the contract is for less than fifteen percent (15%) of the bid threshold, than the contracting agent may award the contract without soliciting competitive quotations.

A person or entity who seeks to be listed as a qualified contractor shall meet the following qualifications:

1.    Be a licensed contractor in the State of New Jersey.

2.    Be available to provide emergency construction services. Construction services shall include but not be limited to boarding up buildings, shoring up buildings or other construction related actions to secure a building in an emergency situation.

3.    Have  construction equipment available.

4.    Have a New Jersey Home Improvement Contractor Registration for residential projects or Union City contractor’s license for projects on commercial properties.

5.    Have a New Jersey Business Registration certificate.

6.    Have a New Jersey Public Works Registration certificate. Prevailing wage does not need to be paid unless the project exceeds $15,444.

7.    Five (5) references for construction services performed in the last five (5) years.

Anyone seeking to be placed on the City’s qualified contractor list shall submit the following:

1.    Copy of Contractor’s New Jersey Home Improvement Contractor Registration for residential projects or a Union City contractor’s license for projects on commercial properties
